As You Are popped down to Freemasons Hall this morning where Fam Ivoll was getting ready for her monster filled show for Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Backstage was awash with futuristically hot alien models, with huge eyes painted onto their super slick hair with oversized buns, there were rails with monster printed denim, googley eyed jumpers and pastel pop dresses and about a million people running around frantically finishing off those last few details.
Once seated in the show, the lights dimmed and one model appeared on the catwalk, embracing the slightly alien based feel we had already seen backstage and burst into a futuristic dance move accompanied by lazor lighting. Then boom, the catwalk lit up and the nostalgically familiar intro to the ‘Ghostbusters’ theme tune kicked in, even the most cynical of the front row fashion pack couldn’t help but crack a smile. (Which by the way included a man dressed head to toe as an inflatable blow up doll, oh and his dog.)
Overall the show had a really fun, pop feel with every single model bringing a bit of their own personality and attitude to the catwalk, whether it was a baring big braces filled grin, blowing a kiss to the crowd or just shaking their ass (yes some of these models actually had tits and ass). Just when we thought it was over, the show proceeded to present the children’s collection with a selection of super cute kids who showed off the same attitude and fun as the grown ups. From both the mainline and the little ones line there were monster back packs, amazing prints (which reminded me of the Pixar film Monsters Inc), 3D eyes and pompoms popping off every limb, all styled up with candy coloured creepers, multicoloured lip print mouth pieces and sunglasses with eyelashes. I have my eye on the monster print bomber jacket for sure.
