Sad news at the start of the weekend as it has been confirmed that Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys has sadly passed away. Yauch was diagnosed with cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node in July 2009 and, although his fellow Beasties always maintained he was fighting bravely and responding well to treatment, it is presumed but not confirmed as yet that the disease has contributed to his death.
Aged just 47, there is still over 30 years of music for fans to remember Yauch by, and the pioneering passion he and his fellow Beastie Boys always showed mean his influence will continue to be heard in other artists’ work.
